National Gallery of Ireland
The National Gallery of Ireland is a masterpiece of architecture, even if you are not a big fan of art, we recommend you to step inside and admire the result of 6 years of renovations, giving back to the main room its past glory. It hosts an excellent permanent and free exhibition with both international and local artists. Don’t forget to visit the shop downstairs, it offers an extensive selection of books and art print to bring back home.
National Museum of Ireland
This museum hosts amazing exhibitions of Celtic and Medieval art as well as a fine collection of prehistoric gold artefacts in Europe. An excellent way to discover Ireland history, this museum offers the documented life in Ireland in Vikings age and Medieval age. It has a sister hotel, the Museum of Natural History. Located next to the Mont Clare hotel, you will discover a remarkable collection of species displayed in a cabinet style. The first floor is dedicated to the animals that live and lived in Ireland.
Kilmainham Jail
This former prison is a top touristic attraction in Dublin and a top Instagrammed spot. Strangely renowned to be the biggest unoccupied gaol of Ireland, but still holding some of the most famous political and military leaders in the Irish history, such as Charles Stewart Parnell, Robert Emmet, Eamon de Calera and the 1916 Rising leaders. By visiting Kilmainham Jail you will learn what it is to have been confined in one of the bastions. Access is by guided tour only, you can have a look at the website for more information.
The National Wax Museum
The National Wax Museum Plus is another place that gives an overview of Irish history from the Bronze age to present day. As its name suggests, is it not only a wax museum, it offers unique experiences to visitors with the Chambers of Horror and the Science and Discovery Zone. The Guinness Storehouse
What about discovering the story and the process behind Ireland’s famous drink? The Guinness Storehouse is located on the production site called St. James Gate Brewery. The impressive building hides a seven-storey visitor experience focused on the 250 years brand history. The culmination point of the visit is the Gravity Bar, giving a 360 view of the city.
